I am passionate about a few things. Tennis, yoga, my friends, my family, lifelong learning, music, sunshine, palm trees, and the reason we’re both here on my website, helping people learn. About themselves. About their roles and their work. About how they impact others, and how the world of work impacts them. 


My longstanding fascination with human behaviour, career choices and education stirred a curiosity about how profound learning changes our experiences in the workplace. I was driven to deepen my understanding through formal training – in gender dynamics, adult education, human resource management, psychometrics and professional coaching. 

Over the years I have built a particular expertise and it informs everything I do. In my practice it guides me as I help others navigate their own work life experiences with more agility, confidence and grace.”

About Lighthouse...

The Kelowna-based company, founded in 2006, is located in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. We provide consulting, leadership coaching and workplace training to career-minded professionals and organizations in Canada and the U.S. Clients include municipalities, post-secondary institutions, healthcare agencies, not-for-profit groups and private corporations, as well as individual business leaders.


Lighthouse president, Laurie Mills, has a Master Degree in International Adult Education (University of Toronto/OISE) and a Certificate in Human Resource Management (University of Manitoba). Her formal education also includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Certificate of Applied Women’s Studies (University of Western Ontario).


She also holds the ICF credential of Professional Certified Coach (PCC). She completed her formal coach training through the College of Executive Coaching, the only post graduate coach training institution certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF). 


Since 2003, Laurie has been a part-time instructor with the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s (B.C.I.T.). She teaches courses on Leadership and Change as well as Human Resources Management.


Laurie is certified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI® Step II) and the Bar-on Emotional Intelligence Quotient Inventory (EQ-i 2.0®), as well as a range of other psychometric tools. She has been using assessments for over 20 years to support individual coaching and small group learning.
